A political place
Filled with hate
Instead of love
The size of building
Signifies wealth
Instead of changed lives
The elders and leaders
Are dirty old
Men
People come here
Once a week
To pay their dues
The deep offering plate goes by
And people give
Out of guilt and obligation
Not a place of worship
But of unapproved looks
And judgment
Welcome
This is the American church
Won’t you join us?

Hi! I ran across your blog when browsing the reading list of an acquaintance's blog. I've enjoyed reading your thoughts--may God bless you and continue to built your commitment to His kingdom!
ReplyDeleteConcerning this particular post: Wow, a lot is wrong with our American mindset, isn't there? And yet, the churches here which believe in Christ are a part of His bride--they are precious to Him. I keep bumping against this fact when inclined toward disillusionment with my own church.
